Changing pitch of house roof on one side or gable end conver

Hi all

Is it possible to change the pitch on one side of the roof?

I am in the process of buying a semi-detached house with a hipped roof. The pitch on the side seems very steep, and wondered if it was possible to change this, so that there would be more headroom in the loft?

I don't think I would be able to change to a gable end, as the house has already been extended over the garage, unless I this is possible.

I can provide some pictures to help if needed
