Strange then how shootings in the UK are low due to our laws - one of the good things about the UK...

Trump was saying a few days back (when they were discussing school shootings) that it might be an idea to ensure teachers who are firearm proficient be armed in case someone with dark intent enters the building.

I think it was Trump who said something similar after a church shooting a few years back i.e. if more people in the church had been armed, the no. of deaths might have been less.

It's maybe one of those things that is slowly changing in the states, however guns are so entrenched in their history I doubt there'll ever be much movement from the status quo.

I'm pleased we don't have the same history here.

They are not banned in the UK and a gun licence is easy to get.

Easy to get, I have a shotgun licence and firearms cert, anyone without a criminal background can get one. Perhaps you was refused one as they didn't deem you stable?

I don't think you can equate driving deaths with gun deaths...

It's a matter of intent...

I don't think on the whole someone speeds with the intention of killing, but pulling a gun trigger is invariably intentional...

Assault rifles used to be legal in the UK.
They were banned after the Hungerford massacre.
Tbe Dunblane killer used a legally held automatic pistol
Since these weapons have been banned, i don't think there has been any more mass shootings.
It is interesting to note that, almost all mass shootings in America and Britain have been carried out by people using legally held weapons.

The ease of obtaining a gun licence, be interesrting to know their backgrounds. Lots of nutjobs could easily slip through the net due to them having no criminal convictions. Then they flip for some reason. If it wasnt a gun it would be something else or an ilegal gun? who knows.
