Charlie Kirk

You seem to be wrestling with the same dilemma.
No such thing as a 'fertilised embryo'.
An embryo is a fertilised egg.
Life begins when a female egg is fertilised with a male sperm.
The female egg on its own cannot create life, its a biological dead end, as is the male sperm.
Why do people find this concept so hard to understand.
It’s a legal fiction, but it’s also a life, the debate is around whether or at what point you ban or regulate ab ortion

Not wrestling with what an embryo is, i understand that. Just poor use of language on my part :)

How ironic, all the empathy being shown about the tragic murder,
Kirk was of the 'empathy is for wimps' school of thought.
That was until he got shot, then all those who agreed with his hateful comments, got all outraged because others didn't show sufficient empathy or sympathy for him or his family.
In my opinion, Kirk was just another unfortunate victim of gun violence in America.

A good start would be if all those engaged in the abortion debate, acknowledged that abortion is the ending of a viable human life.

Even better if all those debating about it, allowed the woman to make her own choice.

Gun violence from someone well to the right of him though that narrative is beiing rewritten.

That would involve saying that a woman is killing her child, which is politically and morally unpalatable to the vast majority. It’s interesting that in Ireland the take up has been very low because culturally and religiously the view is still held that
ab ortion is wrong.

Does anyone disagree with that? Of course, if you allow nature to take its course, most embryos would become viable human lives.

However, i personally don't see the difference in aborting a pregnancy at an early, arbitrary point in time, or using contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Contraception should be the primary method, but if a baby is unwanted or defective in some way, i am firmly of the belief that it should be the mother's choice whether to continue with a pregnancy or not.

The cut off date for when an abortion is no longer allowed is the only unsettled point of the argument in my opinion, certainly in the UK.

A better start would be looking at the practical not philosophical

men and women have sex, sometimes it results in an unexpected or unwanted pregnancy

what is wrong with terminating something that is not conscious, is not sentient?

if you force a woman to have a baby when she is neither emotionally or financially stable, you may force a baby to grow up in poverty

if you allow a woman to have an abortion, then have a baby when emotionally and financially stable that baby is most likely to have a far better life chance

All you are doing is denying the better option for a baby

On gun violence
I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.

If a woman lives in a state that denies abortion, can she ask for a caesarean once the fetus is considered viable?

Charlie Kirk said abortion is fundamentally wrong because life is a beautiful thing

Charlie Kirk said people getting shot dead is a price worth paying because life is not a beautiful thing.
