hi
planning on putting a tv up on a internal wall in the house. Guessing it's only 1 brick thick as its internal? Is this too risky as chase will have to be at least 35 Mm deep for back boxes

It doesn't matter how deep for the back box but there are limits for cable chases of:

one third thickness of leaf (brick/block) for vertical and
one sixth for horizontal.

Can't you tell how thick your internal walls are from looking at doorways?

If the walls are solid they are very unlikely to be brick - costs far too much to lay, unless the house is so old it pre-dates even breeze blocks.

Is it a party wall between a pair of semis?

It's a bungerlow. Wall between a kitchen and bedroom. Property about 50 years old

Might be breeze block - enjoy the shrapnel and the mess.

But as I said - can't you tell how thick it is by looking at the other internal walls?

The biggest fear is loosening the brickwork/blockwork and damaging the other side - but for a pro this is quite rare.

The easiest way is to chain drill round the edge of the box, in your case 35mm deep.

Cut through the holes with a bolster chissel.

Cut out the middle bit with a cold chissel or even better a scutch chissel if you're posh.

Hold the chissels at a slight angle. Hitting the wall too squarely and directly is more likely to push a brick out.

Try to use oval pvc conduit over the cables - you will pleased you did if you should ever need to make alterations in the future. It's not expensive.

There's likely 10mm of plaster over the block too so you're only going to be 25mm into the block.

There might even be more plaster! You never know

Had a chase job last week (moving sockets on a new build ) and we'd sunk the boxes 10mm for 15mm of wet. Went to chop the new box in, 25mm of plaster, pretty much to the mm. That was one of the easiest box sinkings i've ever been blessed with.

Fingers crossed for that for the OP.
