Hi,
I am getting the back of my house repointed after a small recent extension. The house is originally 1930 red brick semi.
The pointer has recommended a chemical clean to help the brickwork blend in better.
My view is that once it is repointed it will naturally blend more although may not be pointed. Some of the original pointing is black ash but more recent is sand and cement.
He has quoted £500 to chemically clean which seems expensive.
Can anybody share any knowledge around the pros and cons of doing this. It doesn’t have to be perfect as it’s the back of the house and I personally think a repoint will be enough but happy to be corrected. Thanks.
