Child lock/restricted opener

In my son's bedroom there's only one opening window and it's a full size one. ie:big enough for me to climb out.

I want to know if there's anything I can fit to it to allow it to open a fraction to allow fresh air in but to restrict it from opening fully allowing my son to climb out?

Ideally something you've fitted/used and can recommend.

It's a UPVC double glazed window.

yes, you need a thing called a "window restrictor" or "opening restrictor." Places that sell window locks have them.

Be careful to drill the screw holes so you do not touch the glass.
