Chimney back gutter issue

I had our roof re-done last Jan and no issues or leaks since. However, neighbour had work done on her house this week and the roofer found the state our roofers had left the chimney back gutter in on our shared chimney stack. My roofers told me at the time that they would be installing a single piece of lead on the back gutter and to let the neighbour know they would be doing work on her side of the roof.

Clearly they didn't and instead just bodged the new lead, my side, over hers and tried to stitch it together with sealant which has failed, I imagine to save time in having to take up her side of the slates. Surprisingly we have had no leaks on either side since the roof was done.

The neighbours roofer has re-sealed the lead for now but I am now in the process of contacting my roofer to sort as we have a 10 year guarantee. Am I right in demanding that the back gutter needs to be re-done to ensure it is a single piece of lead or is that very much a nice to have and having 2 pieces sealed together is perfectly acceptable? Just making sure that I know what the standard is so they don't just come back and re-bodge it.

If they said they would use a single piece of lead, they are in breach if contract unless they can show the use of sealant achieved the same outcome. It clearly didn’t give the state of the repair, even if it is not currently leaking.

Yes. Go get um.
Find letters online or use AI to write you a complaint letter

You have what appears to be the original back gutter and a newer apron .
The back gutter should have been replaced looking at the state of it and definitely one piece
