Chimney Extractor

I want to use the existing chimney as an extraction route for the cooker hood.
If I get it lined with 6inch steel ducting and put a condensation trap (and send to drain) on the bottom then will that be ok?

Any thoughts on whether the performance of the fan will be effected having to push air up to the pot?
