Chimney haunching

I share a chimney and am repairing my side. the neighbour wants to do his side eventually, but not now. So i am going to redo the haunching on my side.

When he comes to do his will we have to replace my new haunching or can we bond his to mine using PVA ?

I know this is not ideal, but i cannot see another way around it.
