I am having a new basket type gas fire, under 7Kw, installed soon and was wondering whether it is a requirement that I have a chimney pot on top of my chimney stack. I have has conflicting reports, some saying I do, some say I don't.
Also is it correct that I don't need any floor or wall vents ?
thanks in advance.

Check the mans install instructions with regards the air vent, under 7kw prop not req but adhere to instrucs. Fire will need to be signed off/installed by an rgi. Chimney pot termination is a requirement.

pot yes.
ventilation maybe.spillage and flue checks will tell you if ventilation is required.
the 7kw limit is just a guide.site testing and inspection is required.

if a fire is fitted into a class 1 chimney of over 170mm dia i thought a terminal was not required.

If the flue has a x sectional dimension of 170mm or less an approved terminal is reqd.
A chimney pot is not a flue terminal. If its a std brick class 1 chimney stack it will require a pot on top of the stack. Its all to do with birds/builders and identification, and flue performance.. I will be a right sado and dig out the relevant regs on monday, if I'm wrong I'll eat them and post video on u tube.

Regulations says

Current standards recommends that terminals are protected against bird entry or nesting. The jackdaw is one such breed ob bird particularly know forits like of flue terminals.Other wild life is also known to favour 'warm' flue terminals.

so an appliance that does not cost a lot of money needs a lot of money to install it.
only due to the fact that the complete flue has to be correct,
from the appliance connection to chimmney pot has to be inspected to conform all is built correctly.
then comes the gas safety checks.
only saying this as i have been involved with an incident where the house holder drilled into a chimmney breast to fit scaffold tubes to support a bed like a hammock type of thing.
he drilled into the kopex liner from the flat belows back boiler and he was wondering why his bed was always hot.
i think he is the type of person who drives at over 100 mph when he cannot see far in front usually when it is pouring down.

10.2 Bird guards
The fitting of a bird guard to a chimney shall be considered where there is a known problem of birds nesting
in chimneys in the locality.

10.3 Masonry chimneys
COMMENTARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON 10.3
.........When a gas fire or gas fire/back circulator is connected to a chimney designed for use with solid fuel, it is
not necessary to fit a flue terminal to the existing chimney outlet where the flue diameter is greater than
170 mm diameter.
