I've just moved into a new house and want to replace some radiators as I decorate each room.
Can I choose a radiator and be sure it will be compatible? What I'm trying to avoid is buying some I like and then finding out I can't use them with my existing central heating.
To give you an idea as to what I'm dealing with, I have a gas boiler and bizarely have to top up a separate tank in the loft manually for the rads. This seems odd to me - but maybe it's not so unusual.

No its just the classic cheap Servowarm system put in about 15 years ago..........a plumber would not charge much more than £50 to £60 to put a ball cock in the central heating header tank, making draining, bleeding etc much easier.

That's good to know, thanks.

What about the radiator type question? Does the style of radiator matter?
