Choosing hollow or solid soffits

Any thoughts on whether hollow or solid soffit board is better? in terms of longevity & potential for problems in future etc.

I need to make a decision between them - the eaves are deep so the hollow board will be cheaper, but cost isn't the number 1 factor for me. I have a lot of health problems & find it massively stressful having work done on the house. So while i *slightly* prefer the look of the hollow board, i care most about longevity & avoiding future problems.

My contractor (who came recommended & does only roofline work been in business 20yrs), says they are both the same in that regard, & so the choice is simply about cost & appearance, but someone else (who sells the boards to trade) said hollow board is more prone to things like damp & bugs getting in - but then they are selling the stuff and may be influenced by the fact that solid costs more therefore better for them?

So hoping to get some independent opinions or any personal experiences please.

I had to make a decision quickly so i just went for solid ones in the end.

Your contractor is spot on . They do the same thing It’s all down your visual preference

They do the same thing. But if hollow is being used as a soffit replacemeant it can bounce a bit when cleaning it.
