Morning all,

I have a removable plastic shower waste cap that started its life with a shiny chrome finish.

Ten years later, some of the chrome has disappeared to reveal the underlying plastic and the chrome that remains is pretty dull.

I'm thinking the best solution is to recoat it with a spray or paint finish, but not necessarily chrome or silver, as the paints/sprays available aren't stated as being suitable for continual contact with water.

What I'm thinking of doing is applying a coat of matt white Hammerite to tidy it up.

Has anyone here tried anything similar? I'd be interested to hear about your results.

What did you use to prepare the surface? I'd say normal sandpaper is a bit too coarse. Perhaps something finer, like wet & dry?

Regards

Jever

Wastes can be bespoke to tray so I used to recommend buying a spare if available.
As for your problem spray paint it will work. May have to do it again when it scratches though. There are plastic spray paints you can use.
Warm the spray can in hot water and it will spray lovely
