chrysler neon needs gears fixing

i have just bought a chrysler neon and it wont move as the gears dont work has anyone any idea how much this would be to get fixed as this is the only problem as the car starts ok

Well, if it doesn't move it could be a multitude of things, least serious being a drive shaft failure, most serious being a total gearbox failure! Need to get the problem diagnosed before we here can think about guesstimating a cost.

If you could give a bit more info that "the gears don't work" someone might be able to help with a diagnosis.
Is it possible to select a gear, any gear?
