cistern not working properly

hi me again i got a bathroom suite (coral at wickes) and fitted it all but the cock stop dont seem to stop the water comming in to the cistern. its a push button on the top and the flush worksi just cant stop the water comming in HELP PLEASE

If there is a sliding float on the inlet valve make sure it is not sticking against the side of the cistern.

hi it still comes in and it isnt catching the cistern

Is the float a large plastic arm?

If so, there should be a screw that you unscrew to cut the water off quicker.

You will have to look for it.
