Hi mechanics, I have a very odd problem.
I own a citroen synergie 2,0 hdi 2001 model and have done for the past 7 years.
But yesterday I heard a banging noise under the bonet so I stopped the car and found that the edge of the auxilary belt was shredded, so I cut off the part that was flapping about which left me with a thinner belt but not broken which I guessed would get me home.
But when I tried to restart the engine it wouldnt start and eventually the battery run down, I got a jump start but still wouldnt start, dont know if its anything to do with the damaged belt or just coinsidence.
I have checked theres diesel gettig through and thats all fine. :?:

Haven't come across this before, sorry. Check the timing belt in behind the cover, hopefully it will be ok.

Just had a thought, it might have caught the wiring going to and/or the crankshaft sensor? Cant remember where its mounted. Some of the Citroen members will know.

Sadly, its quite common for the strands from the auxiliary belt to enter the timing belt cover and whip that belt clean off....best remove the top belt cover for a look before going any further!
John :)

 Got it towed to Citroen and Peugeot specialist and have confirmed auxilary belt has crashed into timing belt.
