Cleaning grout off slate mosaic tiles

Hi, I am extremely disappointed that despite wiping off excess grout from the tiles when i grouted them, and doing this several times with clean cold water each time, all the tiles are drying up 'white'. The are multi coloured;
Greens, Greys, Beige, Brown. Every time I go over them they look lovely but then dry up white again. I did not even give the excess grout two minutes I was on to it straight away wiping the excess off. Help please or these are going to have to come down.

Use grout residue remover available at all tile shops
Then reapply sealer
