Cleaning old tiles before overtiling

Vinyl floor tiles were stuck down on top of old quarry tiles using contact adhesive. I have removed the vinyl tiles and scraped off as much residue as I can. I now want to overtile the quarry tiles but have first to remove the remaining residues or the tile adhesive probably won't bond.

Any suggestions?

Useful link, thanks. I think the SBR based bonding primer suggestion might be best in my situation. I'm not familiar with this stuff - any brand names?
