I recently removed the dual mass flywheel on my LDV Convoy van to get it welded solid. I noticed the clutch release bearing felt a bit rough so I orderd a new one from a local Ford spares place. When I ordered it (on a Monday) they said it would be ready to collect the next day. I don't go to town every day as it's a half hour drive so I went back for it on the Friday. When I went back they said they had sent it back because I didn't turn up on the Tuesday  I did not want to wait again to get the job finished so I put the old bearing back in. After about 10 days use the bearing has now broken up and wrecked the clutch and scored the surface of the gearbox input shaft sleeve:

I'm wondering if I could just polish out the marks on the sleeve or would it give more problems if it ends up a few thou undersize? I will fit a new clutch kit.
