You need a CO alarm, not a CO2 alarm 
If there is any way fresh air enters the loft then the alarm should avoid areas where this fresh air enters the loft

Are you homeowner or rented? Is the boiler a new installation?
I tell them people to put it above the boiler / flue.
Of course, you do need to be able to hear it, hopefully the loft isn't too well sealed from an insulation point of view.
