I'm in the process of planning a deck, and I will need to attach two 2x6 joists either side of a 4x4 post.

Now, I cannot find a coach bolt or a drill bit that will go right the way through the 8 inches of wood.

Will coach screws on either side be just as good?

Thanks in advance.

That's great many thanks!

How big does the hole need to be for M10 rods and bolts? The extension says its for 16mm flat bits and upwards?

a hole for a 10mm bolt in wood needs to be very close to 10mm the coach screws is the easy way

you can mark the joists and drill them separately. No need to go through them all in one if you haven't got a long enough bit.

Timberloks are better than bolts and screws. Use them all the time. Google 'em.

Worth sayin' again! :)
