Hi all,
looking for some advise. Got some nice new oak veneer doors and trying to work out what I should put on them to seal/protect. Don't want to change the colour of the doors too much, and would like to maintain/enhance the look of the grain.

What would you all recommend, was thinking something like Danish/linseed oil - these any good? Do they offer the door any protection?

All advice welcome.

Cheers
Joe

I use beeswax or canauba wax. You can get solid beeswax furniture polish from supermarkets (not the spray type). You will need to rub several coats well into the timber. On another point, dont use steel fittings on oak, it will blue, use brass fittings and screws.

We've had some door installed and the builders used A product called Diamond Glaze - it hasn't changed the colour but apparently allows the wood to breath - yet protects then from mositure and dirty hands! so they can be wiped down.

Finish looks good and not too glossy!
