Does anyone now if you can paint over these plastic strips, or does doing so render some insurance/certificate void?

I dont think the painting of intumescent seals is a good idea, and better perhaps to cut around them.
Insurance companies and the like are all to quick to proportion blame, so better not to give them the opportunity.
