Why do all new washing machines use only cold water without giving us the option of both hot & cold. The argument that they save energy by only heat the water required is OK if you use normal gas & electric for all water heating, but I have a Stanley Oilfired cooker/boiler that provides cooking, hot water and heating. This means that whenever the cooker is used we have a cylinder full of hot water free, so I object to have to pay for electricity to heat additional water to the washing machine. This is another of the nanny state's rulings to save energy and take away our choice, but that is another way of hitting the country dwellers who have no mains gas.
