I have a 4 bed house and I am replacing the heating and plumbing. I have had very differing advice as to the advantages of either of the above systems. Can anyone advise me which system to go for?
Not a plumber, but I used to have a megaflo. One question, how big (diameter) is your rising main. 15mm is not adequate, in my admittedly limited experience.
Nobody can really advise you as they don't know what your requirements are. However if you can get hold of some information then you might be able to make yor own reasonable assessment.
Here's a link explaining about combi boilers - there's a bit about the mega flow at the end.
I've a Megaflo system and I think it's the bees knees. One of my family has a combi system and when it's working it's pretty good too but it has had its problems. Probably just down to choice of boiler.
I think water pressure comes into this as well somewhere along the line. However, the tank is pressurised via a reducing valve so presumably you'd be OK unless the mains pressure was under 3 bar (can this happen?)
In for a penny, in for a pound. Don't mess about, have both, just make sure you are effin rich and have a service guy you like. You will be seeing him from time to time, and if you like him it might make parting with wads of notes a little easier.
I'm of to do a repair job on a Megaflow tomorrow, nearly £300 + VAT, and that's trade for the parts. There's mark-up and labour to add.
