Could be that the bit you couldnt find is trapped in the plate heat exchanger and causing the noise

Im not sure is the honest answer, personally I would remove the plate heat exchanger and flush it through

Thanks Ian. I think that if I'm going that far I may as well buy a new plate heat exchanger and fit it. May be lucky and find it behind the venturi valve. You never know.
