I hope someone out there can help. I am in the process of fitting a solid fuel Rayburn Supreme to replace our old oil fired Aga in the kitchen. This will be an open vented system with 28mm gravity feed to HW tank and 22mm pumped to rads, with an injector "T" in the return to the Rayburn.
My problem is how to connect in the original trianco 15/19 oil boiler so that in the rare event the oil boiler is on, the Rayburn will assist it.
As I don't want the Gravity fed hot water on the trianco, I am planning on removing the 28mm pipes and re-routing to the Rayburn, and sealing these ports on the trianco. I am going to retain pumped system for c.h.
My queries are these:
1 At the present time the gravity h.w pipes are on the LH side of the trianco boiler and c.h. on the RH, after removing the 28mm h.w. pipes should I re-route the c.h. pipes to be flow, top RH, return, bottom LH or does it make little difference?
2: The pump is next to the trianco and I was planning on fitting a separate pump next to the Rayburn........do they need to next to the boilers & would fitting these pumps, say in the airing cupboard be o.k.? or cause problems?.......could I just use 1 pump and a 3 port valve.?
I will need to add a new feed/expansion to the trianco....can this be a single pipe from the boiler side of the pump, separating at the F&E tank?
