hi all

just need a bit of help or am I just best to get rid

I was driving home from work as you do and my combo 1.7 dti van stalled and I pulled over and re started the van and worked fine for another 2 miles then it done it again but more and more so called AA out to come and get me home

The AA said it might be the EDU which ive had done before dry joint so I sent it off to the edu exchange bloke and he has sent it back ive plugged it in and still no joy my mechanic had a look and put hes reader to scan the fault codes but will not register I have noticed that I use to have a ABS light and diagnostics light on dash board used to come up before starting the engine they are gone now it seems that there is no communication between the dash board

I dont no if the ecu has gone or a fuse ive checked all the fuses and seem fine

if there was still a problem with edu would I still get communication between the ecu and dash board

been a good van but maybe its time to get rid

Alas, starting and running issues are well known and common with this ECU - Izuzu 1.7 engine? Many problems come due to water ingress.
However, this shouldn't stop the vehicle communicating with a scanner so before you step in with the gas axe I'd be inclined to visit a diesel specialist to get their advice.
There should definitely be a fault code displayed. Even these are usually bogus and blame excess spillage from the fuel injectors, but at least its a start.
My sympathies!
John :)

thanks john for reply

the van has 146.000 miles been a good old van had it for 9 years
