Hi guys,

have a issue with my 2008 1.3cdti combo van and was wondering if anyone could maybe shed light on this,

so when accelerating if you accelerate too fast to speeds of between 45-60 ie merging onto motorway say, the spanner light on dash will come on only for half a second then go out but van goes into limp mode and won’t go over 55, but if you turn off ignition and then on this resets it. And if you gently accelerate the spanner light doesn’t affect you and you can reach speeds 70-80. Engine does feel slightly sluggish also

any thoughts on what this could be?

van has done about 110,000 been serviced regularly, and has no smoke or anything visible, slightly loud ticking over but it’s a old diesel van

Does it also do the same when climbing hills?
Check your ECU alarms with an OBD checker. Mine did similar when the turbo wastegate seized, and the alarm was 'turbo boost pressure too high.
The sluggishness could come from the same wastegate failing to close properly.
They are difficult to get to, but if you can get to the lever it should operate with quite a low force. (if it's not seized).

PS mine has done 140,000 to date.
