Hi All,

I leave in a block of flat - share of the freehold (4 flats) and we are looking at couple piece of work to get things updated and change and would be good to get your thoughts on the below.

External light at the entrance: Never worked so looking to get this upgraded as it is a safety features for when getting home late at night. No concern here. Looking at a PIR sensor option there.

Communal hallway light fitting - we had the external building painted last year and before we get the internal done, looking at the light fitting upgrade and as well looking at the following option:
for the communal corridor and steps light to include PIR detection.
Is that worth it? or not?
Should we leave manual switch there?
What are the pros and cons of upgrading to PIR sensor?
Is that an unnecessary expenses?
What else should be taken in consideration?

Many thanks,
Jeremy

In both cases led lighting is so cheap to run these days you may just want them left on all the time.

Probably off 2 dusk till dawn sensors.

Those in the trade will probably have a better idea.

If you are doing a fair bit of work, might it be worth considering installing emergency lighting in the communal areas, including externally over the main entrance door? Have a look at www.cpc.farnell.com for their range of ELs. (other suppliers are available)
