I have a small area in my front garden where it is curved. I want to dig out some soil and lay sub-base to prepare for artificial grass. However, I cannot really compact the sub-base there using a wacker plate as the plate wont really have any space to move around because the area is so small. Is there any other way to compact the sub-base so i get good compaction ?

Is the following hand-compacting tool going to be good enough: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311838301525
