I am in the process of purchasing a property, one piece of work that needs doing is to fit a new back door and window. The window is small (i'd guess at approx 700x1000).

What would be an approximate cost for this? Would i be ok budgeting £1k? This would be for a uPVC double glazed window, and if possible a composite door (though this might well be out of reach due to cost). If composite would be too expensive, what suggestions would you make for a good secure alternative? door needs to be half glazed for light.

Thanks

It depends on what area you are in.

It could be done for around 1k, Try to get some recommendations from family and friends for a local company.

Pvc door, glass over panel approx £450 fitted
Window with an opener £200-£300 fitted
Go with a local company who can certify the installation (fensa, Certass etc) this will be included in the price along with a 10 year guarantee.
Should be able to get cheaper if you shop around
