Getting a new composite door and would like the lock to operate as close a possible to the nightlatch lock as fitted to my existing wooden door. Seems no one offers composite doors with just a nightlatch.
Main considerations
a) You can open to door from the inside without the use of a key
b ) When you leave you just have to close the door without the need to lock it with a key
c) The door is effectively locked just by closing it without the need to use a key. Multi point locking being done just by lifting the lever if required. Personally if the door is locked and as secure as with the nightlatch happy to not to have the multi point locking engaged when leaving the house.
I think the Offset Pad Handle would fit the bill but getting conflicting information from different local double glazing/door installing companies. Some are saying that you still need to lock it with a key both when leaving and after entering. Also none have the answers to the following 2 points and I can’t find any definitive info anywhere
Do they have automatic anti-slip/anti-thrust protection when the door is just closed without the multi point locking being engaged or key turned?
Do they have a way to hold the latch in so that if you just pop out you can’t get locked out?
