compression joint from the mains or soldered joint

Hi, i want to feed a cold water line from the main water line underneath the kitchen sink to go into the dishwasher. Would a compression joint be good enough or does the joint have to be soldered. Please Help!!!!

Both are fine and you could even use a plastic push fit too.
