Computer beeping and not starting

You may need to consider copying the data off your old disk in case it gets (or is) damaged.

If you are not used to this work, any local repairer can do it, or a competent friend, provided you know for a fact they have done it before.

You may end up getting a replacement machine.

A tower PC like yours is really easy to work on, but I think you are inexperienced, so save your data.

Surely the hard drive will be readable via a caddy. That said, it is it encrypted via BitLocker etc, the OP will need to know the encryption key.

I have recovered data from scores of HDDs but that predated the rise of encrypted drives in windows.

My current laptop has W10 pro and Bitlocker was turned on by default. I did make a point of photographing the key though.

If I get it cleaned up and try turning it on then hopefully it will stay on long enough to do some sort of diagnostic test or whatever you advise? To check the RAM etc.

Yes, I previously used caddies for backups, and had several that I swapped.

Don't bother now, but I have an extra disk inside the tower.
