hi

i made an opening for the concealed shower valve to poke through the hardibacker substrate.

Unfortunately, i couldn't just make holes for where the taps go, because the valve itself didn't give me enough depth, so i had to cut out a bigger section. the distance between the horizontal pipes and the tap fittings is not enough for the backer board and tiles.

It looks like this.

is this going to be an issue if I put a whole tile over the opening? the tiles are big enough to cover the entire opening. I would cut small squares for the taps to fit through.

Or should I think about putting some more support in, and filling the opening with more hardibacker?

thanks in advance!

I would cut batterns to fit round the hole overlapping the edges, and screw them to the back of the board to support a 'patch' over the hole

Thanks ticklyt. I'll do just that. Better safe than sorry. Cheers!
