Concrete roller as good as wacker plate?

Hey guys,

Just a quick question. I'm creating a patio and was wondering whether a wacker plate is really worth it or would I be fine with an existing concrete roller?
 
That's fine mate, thanks. HSS tool hire have got one on offer, so I'll get the medium one for the weekend.
