In the servicing instructions for a Potterton Suprima 50 boiler, section 4.3 9
the procedure is listed:
1/ Disconnect wires from sensor.
2/ Depress the clips on the outside of the sensor and pull it clear of the pipe.
3/ Re-assemble in reverse order, use fresh conducting paste.

Where do you apply the paste?

You shouldn't be inside the combustion chamber unless you are a RGI.

If you are a RGI, you need to go back to college.

Do yourself a favor and get someone in who knows what they are doing before you injure yourself and others a.k.a....

It needs to go between the face of the thermistor and the pipe (or whatever it's mounted on).

Don't overdo it - a thin smear is all that's required. The purpose of the paste (thermal grease) is to fill imperfections on the mating surfaces and provide good thermal conductivity between the two.
