i work in pre fabricated modular bulids... in this case...all our fitted conduit, from start to finish every part is glued , and strung with marker tags,..ready for the Sparks to pull the correct spec cable through..
as once it is in situ on site.. any problem with the conduit is not fixable. so we have to get it right, first time.

but this is not the case for our homes.. in DIY.

Chris5 if you cant think of any! it is becasue you aint meant to know.
but bomb and blast and fire proof is an almost standard spec for all MOD builds. certainly ones i have built and pre fabbed in the recent past

You can cut it just short of the metal back box.

Don't leave a gap though, as you won't be able to pull the cable through at a later date!
And even more important, make sure the conduit lines up with a hole. Personally I take the conduit into the box - only by a mm - so there isn't the problem where a) the conduit and hole aren't inline, and b) the gap gets filled with plaster. Most don't - it does take somewhat more work (I only do DIY).
