Confused about extending radiator tails

We're replacing the rad in our living room. The room has a concrete floor, the rad pipes are 1675mm apart and we want a column rad that is 1508mm wide.

I understand we can make up the different in space and size by extending the rad tails. But when we asked a plumber if these valves would be suitable: https://www.castironradiators4u.co....ckel-thermostatic-radiator-valves.html#SID=26, he said that as they have 3/4 inch ground face unions they won't work and we need to get valves with 1/2inch compression on both side of the valve, rad and pipe.

We're struggling to find any valves we like which match what he's specified. Is there any way to make these type of valves work with tail extenders?

(I've just seen these valves which I really like and would love to make these work with extenders! https://www.sanctuary-bathrooms.co.uk/assets/files/RV202_info.pdf)

Thanks
Jo

You could get some 1/2” steel pipe threaded at the correct length and use in conjunction with a 1/2” socket. Similar to this picture. You would need to paint after though. Lots of plumbers should have facility to cut and thread this stuff.

Be careful when installing Column Rads as a lot are flow sensitive, they have a baffle fitted inside them that means that the flow can only be at one side of the rad, so check which side the flow is on your existing rads and check that it is the correct side for your new choice of column rad, not all are but a lot of them do have a baffle fitted, it is to move the hot water to the top of the rad

Looks as though the eBay ones would work. You could shorten the 15mm tails to suit also. If the cone on the 3/4 connector was different, you would have to adapt to the correct valve with one of these
