Hi,

I need to connect 15mm pipe to a radiator without incorporating a valve. The tailpiece that comes with '15mm x 1/2 inch' valves may be screwed into the radiator, leaving a nut which is usually screwed onto a valve. But what size is this nut?? The internal diameter of the nut measures 1 inch. There are not any one inch connectors on screwfix, let alone a 1 inch to 15mm reducer.

Threads likely 3/4 bsp. But why do you want to do what you are planning? Just curious. Regards Terry.

Thanks Terry, it was a 3/4 inch connection, got the bits from screwfix 10 mins before closing. So weird that this is what is required to connect to a '1/2 inch' valve, which measures 1"!!!

I was connecting three radiators in a row in under a bay window. All done by tea time, tested, hot, no drips :)

Happy days !!! Welcome to the world of plumbing mate ! For your info ,the 1/2 inch relates to the bsp thread size that taps into the rad. The union is the 3/4 thread ,but the inch you refer to is the diameter you have measured. The size of the union ,being part of the valve to its tail is not referred to in the valves spec. Hope that throws some light on it
