Hi, I have a first fix radial in 4mm t&e cable, in place ready for the sockets to be connected. One of the sockets has a spur of it, again in 4mm t&e. Therefore there are three 4mm cables coming out of the backbox. How on earth! do you connect three 4mm cables into the socket. I can only just get two 4mm cables in, then tighten the screw to hold them

But being you had the chance to first fix, spurring is a bit of a poor design.

if you are doing a complete installation job, why don’t you get a cu with 12 units and double the amount of socket circuits so you can suffice with 2.5 mm on 20 amp mcb? Easier and more convenient.

Stick to gas mate.

It aint always as simple as just getting "a cu with 12 units "

The circuit will have been wired in 4.0mm² for a reason. It is highly unlikely to be due to lack of CU ways.
