I am trying to get quotes for a conservatory. Budget Max £10K.
The cheapest so far is a company who has quoted everything I wanted above the ground (full double glazed glass 4.4m x 3m, double glazed glass roof, 4 pane bi-fold doors on the 4.4 side). However, he told me the base he is building for this is going to be a 40mm concrete raft.
I was told by two other companies that building regs demand foundations of at least 1 metre deep. I didn't realise there are building regs for conservatories bases. I don't need planning permission cos the conservatory is not more than 3 metres deep.
So can anyone advice - is this a way for the builder to cut corners?
