Roughcaster, thanks for that advice. Just wanted to be sure that was the way to go as Dot and Dab quoter didnt mention draughts and condensation. We wouldnt have known any other if my wife hadnt been checking these forums and seen negative comments about it. Maybe D&D is great on inside walls!! Your advice much appreciated.

As I said earlier Zep, a wall strapped with timber battens and then plasterboarded/skimmed, gives a far, far, superior job anyday, than a wall with plasterboard sheets just "stuck" on with dabs of adhesive. Costs a bit more to do it with the timber, and you lose the odd inch or so of room space, but worth it,,,,, in my opinion... Most would use 12.5mm foil backed plasterboard (duplex), and it will also help with any further insulation you might want to carry out to the wall.
