Hi guys after confirmation from council and asking on here a while back that i don't need planning, I'm ready to close an unused side door ~1m high and install a window in the remaining gap.

Ill tie the block work into the existing with wall starters. The wall is double skinned brickwork. After DPC, Should I..

1. Use double skin thermal(or concrete?) blocks and render the exterior, plaster/ render the interior. OR

2. Use single skin thermal blocks, render the exterior then batten the inside skin and use pir insulation(I have 100mm spare), seal all edges with foil tape for a dpm and plasterboard.

Did i miss anything? any other recommendations? Thanks guys.

just do what is there now is it a caverty wall? youll need block inside and class B under the DPC then what ever if your rendering it blocks bricks dont matter but dont forget you have DPC on both skins.
finishing tight coat of hardwal and skim inside out side two coat render with water proofer finished same as rest of the house

wall starter pack inside and out if its brickwork then tooth it out if best

thanks skimmers, its not a cavity wall. Just a double brick wall. I will try to tie in the DPC to the existing if there isn't any under the door frame.

I think the major point is that you have to match or better the existing wall/ insulation?

Thanks for the hardwall and waterproofer tip.
