Can consumer units be positioned in a garage on a new build house?

Also does anyone know of a slimline consumer unit for another job I'm on, I want to try and fit it 'built into' a new build wall?

When deciding on the position of a consumer unit you must think about the worse case when in emergency you need to get to the consumer unit in a hurry in the dark.
