Garage Consumer Unit

two quick questions:
1) Is there any difference between a garage consumer unit and a 2 way consumer unit?
2) Does the consumer unit for a detached garage have to be in the garage, or can it be in the house?

1. a garage consumer unit comes ready-fitted with an RCD and 2 MCBs.

2. only one cable run if you have it in the garage. Cant see the sense in having it at the house.
