Hello all, i'm hoping someone can answer the following....

What could happen if i were to disconnect metallic pipes that were part of the earthing and bonding system without fitting a temporary continuity bond?

Cheers

Then the parts that are left 'unbonded' could under a fault condition give rise to the risk of electric shock due to possible differing potentials between them.

in laymans.... there's an increased risk if a fault develops that someone will recieve an electric shock.
