hi i have bought one of these meters to test on my tumble dryer to follow circuit. i just wondered how it worked in conjuntion with general electricity testing as it has lots of different modes on it the instructions are very vague. i only bought for the 1 job. any 1 help thanks. there is 3 other settings on it it measures a.c d.c and diodes test

I would read and read again thoroughly the instructions for the meter.Do not attempt to work on anything live with it unless you are fully confident about what you are doing. If you have the meter set on continuity or current it must not be put across a voltage otherwise damage will occur - possibly to you as well!
Testing a domestic appliance is a skilled job best left to a professional unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure what you are doing.

Without being rude there is on common instruction for all equipment.

Read the instructions that came with it

If that really doesn't help then ask again
