Contractor went bust, but plumber still in business - who should provide gas safe cert?

In addition to completing the Benchmark and registering the Warranty the installation also has to be Notified to local Building Control.

Only the original installer can do that !

It is the property owner who has the responsibility to ensure that is done. It only costs a few pounds for the installer to do that and usually through Gas Safe.

But you have paid in full to the Contractor and he has not fully paid the installer. So it is understandable that the installer is reluctant to register it. He kind of has an obligation to register it but that is almost impossible to enforce in your situation. If he is a nice fellow then giving him, say £30, to well cover the cost then he might do it. You get a posted letter afterwards to confirm it has been done.

You could ask for advice from Trading Standards about your situation but it is quite common and annoying that dodgy contractors can start up again so easily leaving so many debts behind.
